“The Greeting from the Sea”

A string of beads, a passage of tidal sound.

A greeting once carried across the sea is now tied around the wrist.

Composition: Blue jadeite × white pearl × titanium alloy

Inspiration:

A tribute to Macau’s memory as a maritime starting point.

A single visit by the Portuguese shaped the unique Macau we know today.

I use blue to represent Portugal, and pearls to represent Macau of the past.

In this small city,

one half is infused with Portuguese culture,

while the other preserves Macau’s distinct Chinese traditions.

The central bead resembles a fruit formed by the intertwining of two cultures.

It also symbolizes the hope that the wearer may blossom and bear fruit

in all that life aspires toward.
